In February of 2015, we sent a query letter to Alex Mahon who passed it on to Daniel Isaacs, a joint CEO for Kudos. It took roughly a year and a half to write. Although we thought the ending of season five was quite beautiful, we also saw many possibilities as to how the storyline could be further developed. Rather, it is a serious and finished script, in continuity with the characters as they were portrayed onscreen - but also taking inspiration from opinions expressed by the actors themselves. “We are a team of writers who have written a complete script for a sixth and final season of BBC's Merlin, entitled “Merlin: Kingdom Come.” To be clear, this is not merely fanfiction or a spin-off. It is mentioned below that it’s not fan fiction:
It shouldn’t in my opinion be on tv, but I too have listened to the audiobook, it makes me cry every time. It’s also a little random that Morgana has a son. I get the show wasn’t geographically accurate but that was fantasy and kingdom come tries to involve the whole real life world.
Apparently it takes just a 10 minute bus ride to get from Camelot castle in wales to London city, and a few minute horse ride to get out of the city into a vast beach void of people. And this was written well, however it shouldn’t have been set in London. I didn’t get the villain, but I like the logic of the threat being destiny based. The people just accept Arthur and co and the real royal family are just pushed into non existence. It’s too difficult to make a danger global and not go into details.
I like how it was time for Arthur to be there for Merlin, and the ‘cell room’ bit broke my heart. As much as the original show made its mistakes, kingdom come is entertaining yet is like ‘love never dies’ (phantom) or ‘the cursed child’ (Harry Potter), it’s not canon and I shall never count it because it just isn’t quite right and in parts makes no sense. I’m actually very glad it is simply a fanfiction. This scripts needs to come to life, hopefully this plays out on big screen!!!! there are so many emotions and battles throughout the episodes. One of the characters I really liked was Young Galahad and it was soo cool to see all original characters like Merlin, Arthur, Morgana, Gwen, Gwaine, Lancelot, Gaius etc. His fear of Emrys reminds me of Loki’s reaction fear to Hulk 😂. Like Loki, Accollon is a very manipulative villain and even when it mentions him smirking it definitely brings the actor to my head acting for that part. I pictured Accollon as Tom Hiddleston and wow it totally does suit him to play the role.
#Merlin season 6 episode 13 series
It felt crazy I was listening to the audio book on youtube for each episode and I had a whole picture series in my head as I was listening with the same casted actors. The cast needs to read the 13 episode scripts same goes with the director, they need to know about this!!!! Honestly there needs to be a petition for this script to be aired on TV. It was so well done and it’s such a great sequel to Season 5. I’m absolutely stunned on the way this season was written. I’m currently on episode 12 and this season picks of quiet well from S5 Ep13.
